The purpose behind this project was to combine the digital world with the analog world. I decided to create a digital world that exists on an analog QR Code. The digital pixel world created was intended to be more simple than the complex world it exists in. The pixel people depicted perform simple yet rewarding tasks of perfecting a craft or gathering food. These pixel people perform the tasks over and over again similar to the way we today perform our less rewarding and more taxing jobs. The pixel world is linked onto a QR Code where it is supposed to “exist”, the Code serves as a passageway through the digital realm to the pixel world. The Code, only able to be scanned by certain smartphones, also creates exclusivity in who can view it. While the pixel world is simple and straightforward it needs a lot of technology to reach it.
